u should always use a clear base coat under any coloured nail polish... this will prevent the yellowing of ur nails... u need to get your nails buffed to remove the yellow.. but i recommend you get them done professionally as you might buff them too much and weaken your nails... alternatively you can check with your local beauty therapist or nail artist and see if they have a nail soak which actually whitens the nail...
Take the paint off and use a new one
try not to apply any polish for some time. also, don't leave a polish on your nails for more than 5 days, else, it will turn your nails to yellow.
I always use a base coat and then apply polish over it.What I also did was that at the end of the day I took the polish off. And when I'm not wearing open toed shoes, don't apply any polish at all. They will get back to the colour they originally were.

You know those jars that have minced garlic? Soak the juice in a cotton ball and apply to your nails. Also, dig nails into an onion and keep them in there for like 5 mins.


Massage your nails in circular motions, gently.


Once they start growing, maybe you can put nail polish under the nails so it's not visible. I highly recommend Calcium at Sally Beauty Supply. It's the best. I have long thick nails and I've tried many different kinds, but that on is THE BEST.I need a natural way to grow/strengthen my nails without cost?
You can take prenatal vitamins, they will make both your hair and your nails grow faster :)





Also you can eat more foods like advacados and healthy fatty foods which help again both nails and hair.





Sally Hansen sells this stuff you put on your nails, that is more like an oily substance.. not a polish that seems to help as well.
The truth is there are no magic cures for this. I know I've been looking for decades. I do find clear strengthener works. Don't leave it on long enough to peel off change it every couple of days and DO NOT use Acetone based remover. use the remover for fake nails it much less drying to your nails.. keep your nails out of STRONG cleaners. If I use bleach or anti lime scale stuff my nails break off in couple of days.


Be realistic. You have to set a length you can achieve and keep them there. As opposed to what I used to do %26gt; they only became shorter when they broke. Now I make them shorter before they break.


I have a decent nail bed.. so I can grow them just a bit and they look okay.


It's better that some other beauty issues we could have!


By the way eating healthy will give you better teeth, hair, skin, nails...

Crazy as it sounds PRENATALS! My nails used to break and be really thin and when I was pregnant, I took my prenatals naturally. Now they are very strong and still coninue to grow so long I can't stand it. This works better than anything else, plus it will also help your hair!
My friend used to drink at least 3 glasses of milk a day and her nails grew so much faster than mine. They were also incredibly stong, never breaking or tearing. Unless you're lactose intollerant, I would try adding a little more milk to your diet.
Sorry. Clear polish does help. Drink Lots of milk and always make sure that you keep them filed the right way so they will grow. Keep your cuticles pushed back and neat, and you will have the best results ever!

Hi. The topic of fashion is a fun one. Most usually if your getting the acrylic nails done, you can pick what they call the career length. It looks great and does not enter fear with your work. Usually a taupe or mauve color is great for the office. But sometimes you can't beat classic red. Either way. Manicured will never lose.
I love having long, airbrush and acrylics....but then I also love short, natural real french manicures...
Well, I have long natural nails that have an overlay of acrylic on them because my nails are so thin they tear easily and they are painted red. That's what I have... and thats what I prefer.... I am just assuming that's what you wanted to know.

Me too. I'm pass the phase where I go for dark colored finger nails... Although sometimes it is tempting to go dark. At the same time, I have to consider the tint it would leave even when I remove it! Natural look is ';evergreen'; (if anyone still uses that word!) I rarely use opaque, opting for sheer pink or french pink. I do sometimes use a layer of ';chocolate milk'; but that does make you look ';old';. For the toes however, ';chocolate milk'; works well. I have a thumb nail literally I have a green thumb, as soon as I stop the alchohol dipping, it begins to discolor again under the nail.


Often times I am dipping my thumb and my husband will say ';you getting your thumb drunk again?'; but I have to do the alchohol soak because for some reason moisture goes under the nail ';trapped water'; I wash my hands a lot and clean, always have my hands in water and this causes the discoloration. Broadway nails are great. Try and get the french manicure with the clear bases that come with the pink gel glue. When you glue the nails on with the pink glue, it looks really natural, same as the color of your real nails. Plus, the gel glue is way more better for your nails then regular nail glue, which is like super glue (not good for nails!!) The broadway nails come with many different styles for french manicures and they all look great no matter which one you pick! If you really like the acrylic then get them done. I loved mine but after a while I decided that they made me look too prissy. I'm sorry but acrylic nails kind of scream ';i couldn't change a tire to save my life'; and since i'm not that kind of girl and don't want to be perceived that way i decided to go without the fake nails for a while. [about three years now] But like I said to each her own and if you feel sexier with them on then leave them on. Anything that makes you feel more empowered as a woman is a good thing.
i prefer natural nails to fake ones. If you have nice natural nails a nice french manicure or a coating of light pink polish makes them look great.

I use to get acrylic sometimes but they damage the nails so much! I think the natural look is better and your nails do need a chance to breathe. Short and manicured are sexier (in my opinion) but I think you should do what you are happy with.

I think that natural nails look better and are actually better for our environment. People don't realize all of the little things that damage our planet like the chemicals made for peoples nails and all of the packages for these items.
Definitely short and manicured! Your nails shouldn't exceed the pads of your fingertips by more than 1/4 inch. Good rule of thumb. Nothing tackier than excessively long nails! :)

personally I have artificial acrylic nails applied every 3 weeks. They ruin your nail beds underneath - I now have awful real nails! They are very very soft and they don't grow because of it, however I began having false nails applied as my natural nails were a bit soft and would break as soon as they grew more than 2mm! so now I have very very long artificial ones!! If you do decide to have false nails applied, make sure you choose a reputable nail technician and ask to see his/her certificate!

You have nice natural nails! Go to a trusted manicurist and ask them what products to use to get your nails in the best shape possible. Once you've gotten your nails to optimum condition, you can worry about the cosmetic stuff (i.e. how long you like them, what color/style, etc.) Artificial nails are not good for your nails, although they may look better. If you like that look, ask your manicurist for a french manicure!
If it was a generalised question I'd say natural, but the fake ones in your pictures look natural, so I'd say fake in this case.

omg i hate acrylic nails! They ruin your nails!! Ok, the glue is gell, and when you go to take them off, it ruins the nail bed, take them off, the sooner the better!!! Make sure you dip your nails in acetone ( can be found in nail polish remover), and as hot of water as you can handle. This melts the gel glue, and makes it be a little less painful when you take them off. Also, i highly recomend that you buy sally hansen hard as nail wraps, it will make your nails stronger. .....It's true, acrylic nails make your nails get even weaker. Why not just take off the fake nails and take care of your natural nails. File them, don't clip them, and don't bite or pick them. Don't let your natural nails get to long or the chance of them breaking is higher. yes there is an at home kit you can get to apply fake tips. they will look like french tips ( they will be white not natural) and they will look out of place. you can get them and cut them to size.





if you are going to do this then i suggest you buy some tip strips (strips of paper, normally 10 per sheet, sold in pack of 2 sheets) and a white polish, and paint your other tips to match. the false tip will have gel and filler. you can put the filler and gel over your natural nails at well.





please be warned that if you choose this option that if you apply filler and gel to all of your nails, your nails will not be able to breathe and will go soft and flaky. if you choose to do it on one nail than that nail will go soft and flaky.





your better option is to trim all your nails back to the lengeth of the one that has chipped.

Yup! Right before you turn in for the night, apply grapefruit seed extract to the nails and then moisten with DMSO. (Make sure your feet are CLEAN and dry first!). Then wrap with Saran wrap and slip on some white sox overnight. It's just as fast, (or slow!), as the leading drugs out there with no toxicity!


(You can do the same thing without Saran wrap and sox, but you have to leave your feet exposed to the air for at least 20 minutes before you can touch them with anything because the DMSO is a solvent and will suck the color right out of any fabric!!!)


P.S. You can only get DMSO online! And make sure, if you buy some, that it's pharmaceutical or food grade!

Lamicil. Try lemon if it is finger nail if you are not sure if it is fungal. Cut lemon into half and insert the finger into the lemon and keep it for a while.
Yes, there are two that I know. Tea Tree oil full strength applied with a Qtip morning and night. Also, Vicks Vaporub applied at night and then covered with a Bandaid. Be patient. It can take 6 months or more but they work!

Help with Natural (Finger) Nails...?

I'm trying to figure out why I can't seem to grow my finger nails on my middle fingers. The other 8 of my nails grow fine, healthy and strong, so it doesn't seem like it could be an issue with diet/nutrition. Yet, on the middle finger of each hand, I can barely get the nail past the edge of my finger. My best guess is that this is wear and tear, since that is the longest finger on the hand. Anyone have any suggestions on how to grow these nails?Help with Natural (Finger) Nails...?
My middle fingernails are the most prone to breakage too. In my case it is because the top joints of my fingers are slightly crooked and these nails are the broadest. To compensate I try to make sure to file away dry edges and do the following:





Do not use a nail clipper. Only use a nail file to shape and shorten them. Protect your nails with thicker moisturizers to protect them from exposure to water which dries them out %26amp; makes them brittle.





Try Revlon's disposable files made for weak nails. File in one direction only. Start on one side and file towards the middle, then go to the other side and file towards the middle of your nail. Smooth the nail into a squoval that mirrors you cuticle or the shape of the white part of your nail bed.





Finish the edges of the nail with a hindo stone, a smooth ceramic/stone nail file or the finest grit nail file you can find. You want to make the edges really smooth.





Also, avoid using metal nail files. I recommend using disposable nail files and changing them frequently. The fresher the grit, the less the drag which leads to tearing and peeling.





I also use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize my nails and protect them from water since I wash my hands frequently.


(ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex)





Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too.





Avoid products w/ formaldehyde or toluene, they are very hard on nails.

Go the beauty supply store and buy some nail hardener. Paint it on the white of the fingernail for extra reinforcement, let dry, and then go over the whole nail. It could be wear and tear or it could be you have a weak spot on the side of the nail bed that you haven't noticed.

Gel nails are really pretty. I had them for almost a year. Every few weeks I would go back and get a different color tip. They are nice but I got tired of them getting in the way. And if you hit the fake nail on anything it hurts really badly. I prefer my natural nails now because I can open a soda without injuring myself lol!

Well it depends on a few things. Everyday lifestye I like natural looking nails. mainly trimmed well. When there is a special occasion I like them to be fake with color. I'm pretty sure that most guys don't give a **** what color your nails are. Women care - and that's why there are 300 million colors and brands to pick from. Seriously, most men don't really care about all the details - they just want the total package. Nobody's looking at your nails when you're doing the nasty.

I have always appreciated a woman that takes care of their nails. I even paint my lady friends toenails for them from time to time. The color red on a woman usually denotes an independent and asservtive female. Most other colors are also indicative of a womans mood or personality. Natural nails are really nice, too. Nice clean nails with a couple of layers of clear acrylic look really good, as well as French manicured nails. Further, I have found that a woman who bends over far enough to take care of her toenails is probably taking care of everything else on the way up.

I used to have short nails and used to bite them a lot. What I did was keep them short before I let them get longer!


Sounds silly but I started to file them and kept them short so that I got used to them being neat but didn't want to pick them because they weren't jaggered.


Then I let them grow a little longer, kept them that length for a while till I got used to it (always keeping smooth si i didn't want to pick). Then when I was used to the new length I let them grow a little again.


I did it this way because when I tried to grow them long straight away it would feel weird and some would break so they would all be different lenghts and I'd have to go back to really really short each time.Natural ways to grow your nails?

vitamin C. there are tablets that you can take apart and then put the vitamin C on the cuticle area. Drink Green tea that helps too. eat your veggies and fruits that will help them grow and keep them strong.

When I grew my nails longer, i used Sally Hansen nail growth nail polish. It makes your nails stronger and promotes growth, and thus more likely not to break when they get your desired length.
I always try to grow back my nails quick but it takes about a month to grow back nails.....so try considering this.........get fake nails, they make it longer and cuter.
Well, first of all don't pick at them or bite them off.

Try going to a drug store or beauty supply store and buy a nail buffer and buffing cream. Use this a couple days out of the week. Over time it should get rid of the old nail growth and reveal the new nail. Most beauty supply stores also sell tablets that you can drop into water and soak your fingers and toes to make them whiter.
